Fresh Tracks on Hospital Hill !

Just across the Colombia River from the Hood River Sand Bar there is a little 2000' hill we fly our paragliders off of. Never thought we would be snowkiting up there, But with the fresh snow and West wind that spot seemed interesting. Got the crew and the kites together and made it up there by about 2pm to find the heaviest shin to waist deep powder ever! Solid coverage and the wind up there was pumpin, good to go! Rigged the 10m Octane and waited for the fog to subside a bit. When it cleared the view was amazing, what a spot to be! With only 5 minutes in & zero elevation gain, this was the easiest approach of our season yet! The actual kiting was great, little airs and what can you say about fresh tracks? - the only tracks up there, were the ones I was making! Nice!

I like seeing new spots opened up. I think kite skateboarding the Event Site parking lot w/ a Slingshot 3m foil may have been my own "first descent" and I heartily encourage you to pioneer even more hardcore frozen tracks out there. Good work Alex. - Stuart Hill
Yo Stuart-
Thanks for the words of encouragement.
I'll keep looking.

Hey, Alex Just wondering if St Helens is doable yet? I'm searching for snokiting Dec 13-17. I tried Muir snow field (Rainier)last year and it was alright. Looking for more spots. We have a few in the Snoqualmie area when there's a little more snow. Any help would be great!

Brad-
Looks like St Helens regulations are confused- go for it!

I have been looking for West facing slopes that have roads to the top...not that easy to find, but worth it.
Paragliding launches above 2000' have produced some quality locations. Might try Chelan Butte in central WA or Baldy Mtn - West of Yakima?
Ill think on this one-
